What ? No changes ? Well, at least not on the outside. You have the same basic look and feel of the 3G model. But, like a stealth fighter in radar, the difference can not be detected until it is actually on top of you. The new iPhone is faster better and lasts longer. Taking a look at the speed factor, we see it clearly. The last iPhone was clocked at around 412 megahertz for the processor. The new 3GS model is clocked at 600 megahertz which is nearly a third faster than earlier. Both the old and the new model are not operating at their maximum processor speeds. Yes, there is yet more room to grow !

The memory is increased to further give you a rush of speed in this new creation from Apple. The last model had 128 megabytes of RAM, this new one has twice that; 256 megabytes. If you know from your old PC that doubling the RAM will flat out create a “racer” of a computer, then you know what this means for your iPhone. Things get bouncy fun with that much power under your control. Remember, the new iPhone 3GS has the “S” for “speed”.

For the camera it comes with a three megapixel rating. This time you get an auto focus camera ( finally). You also get video and video editing. You still do not get a flash ! This model has a feature that allows you to focus on the part of the photograph that you want by touching it with your finger on the screen. Computers are smart, but they can not read minds very well yet. The new 3GS camera is performing better than the old one in low light conditions.

The increase in speed is also apparent when you download data. The new phone is roughly twice as fast in downloading. It is close to the same for uploading data. Email and internet all load faster. The new phone has a compass built in. This is handy when using maps and you do not know which way is which. The phone will tell you this after it orients you to a map. Then the phone will tell you which way you are actually pointed.

Voice control for calling works well. The screen has a new protective coating to inhibit smudges from your finger. Games are not changed for now. The same games will remain as were on the 3G model. Copy and paste works well, not only for text but for text and images together. You are given stereo bluetooth, tethering ( if you do not use AT&T ) and other little things that make your life easier. This phone was a needed improvement and proof that Apple is listening to you the customer.
