Many of the things that Lego users build out of these small plastic bricks are intended to mirror things in real life. Whether it is a castle, a house, or some futuristic spaceship, it can be made by snapping together some Lego blocks.

Now, you can get a chance to see what people or other things you have photos of would look like if they were made of Lego. It’s simple really, just snap a picture, then let the application take it and transform it into a Lego mosaic.

Some of the pictures are quite amazing, really. You can get a really good idea of what this application does to the photo if you look at the available screenshot at the application’s site in the iTunes Store. There is a link below.

It works with pictures of things besides people, but as they say at the site, it works best with pictures that are taken close up with a solid, light colored background. After a few pictures, you’ll start to get a feel for the ones that will come out looking good, and those that look like something your 2 year old made when he got into the box of Lego.

But what can you do with these Lego masterpieces once you have them? Well, you can take the picture and post it to places like your Facebook page, to share with all of your friends. Or you could use it as the basis for an avatar on sites like Twitter.

Of course, you could get really creative and try to reproduce the picture actually using real Lego blocks. I haven’t tried this myself yet, but I think it would be really cool to take this mosaic and translate it into a 3D work of art.
