Just wait till you get your first view of the latest from HTC. The HTC Evo 4G is the as-yet unknown wave of the future of mobile technology. Get the facts here in this short articel on this smartphone from HTC.
If you could take your current smartphone and give it about a five to ten times faster data connection, would you do it ? That is where WiMax and the Evo enter the picture. Wimax is more powerful than Wi-Fi for pure connection speed. Until now you could not find a smartphone to use this with this new super connection. Now you have the HTC Evo 4G. This smartphone was originally called the “Supersonic” for the obvious reason of 4G. Do not let the term “4G” confuse you, it is simply the next level in mobile advances, and uses WiMax to achieve its goals. The Evo is similar to the “first shot” in a war. It is starting a new trend.
The screen on the HTC Evo is unexpectedly large, brilliant and clear. On “first time” devices, you do not usually have a great layout. That just is not true for the Evo. The screen is a huge 4.3 inches large. That is bigger than most regular smartphone screens, including the “google phone”, the Nexus One, which also happens to be made by HTC. HTC has been working together with Google for more than a year, so that should not come as a surprise. The clarity of the Evo 4G phone is superb, at 800 by 480 pixels of resolution. It has 65,536 colors to display. This is not quite the sixteen million of some smartphones, but will still impress you with its clarity and vitality. The Android platform allows the screen to have multitouch ability. In addition, the Evo has one more ability. Pinching ( pinching the screen ) on the screen while on the home screen brings up all the other home screens that the Evo has. This is called “leap” and is particulary useful for navigation of the Evo 4G.
The hardware powering the HTC Evo is as impressive as the screen. It has a 1000 megahertz processor, the same as on the Nexus One. This speed demon keeps the navigation from ever slowing down. It is close to impossible to crash this device. The internal memory on the clocks in at 440 megabytes. The Evo has one full gigabyte of RAM. That is astounding for such a small device, but technology is advancing rapidly. A nice touch for the Evo is the kickstand. You can prop up the smartphone and watch videos without having to hold it. If you want, you can also hook up the Evo to a television or monitor with the indcluded HDMI connector.
The operating system is the nuclear-hot Android created by Google. It has over 30,000 applications ready to make your life easier. Since we are already hooked up to Google in one way or another already, why not use their operating system on your mobile device ? This allows you to connect to youtube, gmail and google talk without problems. The Android system includes the ability to wipe your personal information from the phone remotely if you should lose your Evo or have it stolen. The other applications are things that will allow you to save money, save time or make your work more productive.
The looks of the HTC Evo are basic. There is no manual keyboard, but using the big screen to type messages is less of a problem on an Evo. The smartphone comes in basic black. It has four touch buttons on the front; back, home, menu and search. All other functions are initiated on the touchscreen. The Evo has two cameras, believe it or not, one is for photos and the other is for video conferencing. The video conferencing is not up to par yet, but Sprint is working on it.
No prices and no release date is set yet for the HTC Evo 4G. Sprint has claimed they have a “groundbreaking” new device they want to show the world tomorrow. Most people “in the know” believe it will be the Evo 4G.
