The Nexus One is one great phone. On Google´s first try they have made a phone that actually takes a bite out of the number one selling smartphone in the world, the iPhone. Take a look at what the Nexus One can do here in this quick article.

You just have to start with the operating system on this smartphone. It is a socially freindly beast with lots of potential for more sociality. It can connect you with all the updates from all the major places like Twitter, Facebook, and Google talk. The applications being made for the Android system are powerful. You will get more ways to bug your friends and family. For instance, you can use “NavXS” to create a network of contacts that are tracked in real-time. You can know where they are at all times. Do not show Android app this to your parents ! Other apps just like this one are coming out, such as “Commandro”. You have email with all the trimmings. There is threaded SMS and a web browser. The web browser is based on the Webkit system.

The external features of the “Google Phone” are fairly standard. The Nexus One comes with a 3.7 inch ( 9.4 centimeters ) screen which beats many regular smartphones. The screen supports multi-touch. It is a generous 480 by 800 pixels. It has an accelerometer, trackball navigation and a proximity sensor. It is not an LCD model but the newer and brighter AMOLED style of screen. It uses less energy than the old LCD style so you can use your phone longer. It also comes with a light sensor to automatically adjust the brightness of the screen. Overall, the screen is very usable and responds well to input. The included trackball almost seems unnecessary.

You have GSM quad mode ( most call this quad band ) and tri mode WCDMA bands for connectivity to cell phone carriers. The external functions and connections are laid out in a familiar pattern. The volume is on the left side of the phone and easy to find. The 3.5 millimeter audio jack is located on the top with the power button. The Nexus One comes with a slot for your MicroSD card and can take a card up to 32 gigabytes in size. A MicroUSB connector is thankfully provided. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and HSPA. This phone is ready for a connected world.

The Nexus One blazes along at 1000 megahertz thanks to a Qualcomm QSD 8250 processor. This will keep you from crashing it when you are doing multi-tasking. It uses 512 megabytes of RAM and 512 megabytes of ROM for internal memory. One downside of the Nexus One is that the applications are limited to the amount of memory you have left inside the phone. Apple has multitudes more apps available for their phones, but to be fair, they have also been making smartphones far longer. The Nexus One is growing fast, and should prove to be a big player in the following months and years.

You get one color for the Nexus One; two tone grey. It is a nice size and feels good in the hand. It is less than half an inch ( 11.5 millimeters ) thick. Currently, it is available as an unlocked phone and can be used with the T-Mobile network. Get one and see what the buzz is all about.
