If you liked the Sony Xperia X10 you will also like the X8. It is a downsized model of its bigger brother. It has the Android system inside and comes in a variety of colors. Take a look at the details right here.

The colors included with the Sony Xperia X8 are impressive. It will be available in silver, pink, white, dark blue and aqua blue. It looks like the traditional black was left out. Nevertheless, it may take some getting use to the design of the X8 no matter what the color is. It is squarish and over half an inch in thickness.

The screen is a three inch display. It has the fairly standard 320 by 480 pixels of resolution. It is a touch screen with the newer capacitive touch style of operation. The screen sports the “four corner” display of Sony Ericsson. This is to to make it easier to get into the applications on the smartphone. The Timescape application is also included, like the X10, to easily keep your contacts in focus.

Wi-Fi is included on the Sony Xperia X8 but probably not at the fastest levels ( “N” ). On the back you will find a camera without flash. It is a 3.2 megapixel unit. It is also equipped to provide video with record and playback viewable on the screen.

On the inside there is a processor running at 600 megahertz, which is not bad for a device marketed to those with less money. The always popular Android operating system is loaded on the X8 in the 1.6 version. This is a rotten way to start out on Android, since the current version is 2.2. It is stated that Sony Ericsson may upgrade to version 2.1 on this smartphone in the Fall. Taking a “wait and see” attitude would be wise.

This is going to be available for sale in the third quarter for around $250 dollars or 200 euro. Call quality has been mentioned as a small problem for the Sony Ericsson X8. Sprint is destined to handle the sales in the United States.
