The interior workings of the HTC Magic are taken care of by the popular android operating system. This is a rapidly developing piece of software that offers lots of social networking skills. To make amends for the average memory level, there is a MicroSD card slot that will allow you to load files that are on the gigabyte level. This smartphone is manufactured in black or white plastic. You have your choice of those two colors. Quite a shame for a phone with so much ability. You do get WLAN ( Wi-Fi ) ability to take advantage of faster load times for web pages and hopefully skype will be available in the future to allow you to save money on calls using Wi-Fi.

One difference that you will need to remember when comparing android phones like this HTC Magic to the iPhone models is that applications are almos always free. You download neat software and do not pay anything. This phone takes a maximum of ten minutes to setup with your personal information and settings you like. After that is all usage and no adjusting. The HTC magic is a good all-around smartphone that connects you to the rest of the world with convenience that you can fit in your pocket without a problem.

LG Chocolate BL40

Do you really like chocolate ? Take a look at the New Chocolate LG BL40. The popular line of chocolate phones from LG has taken a delicious turn for the better. This is the low down on the fashion phone you know you want.

“Incredibly slim and chic” is how LG describes their new Chocolate smartphone. It certainly does look that way. It is only .43 inches thick. That is less than half an inch. Since it is not yet offered to the United States, that is 10.9 millimeters. It is long and alluring to the casual smarphone user. The screen can give a wide screen effect to the viewer since it is a 800 by 345 pixel version. It is four inches ( 10.16 centimeters ) long and shows a true WVGA output. That “W” stands for “wide”. The screen responds well to inputs from the finger. It is a capacitive touch style display with a curved glass cover. It looks good and performs good.

Your new LG Chocolate shows web pages and videos extremely well. You may have to reformat your videos to play them on the “wide screen” correctly. It has sixteen million colors to show and thin-film transistor technology for higher brightness. The Chocolate also comes with a five megapixel camera that has LED flash, autofocus and Schneider-Kreuznach optics. You can take at thirty frames per second with this camera also. They will be shot in the MP4 ( Mpeg-4 ) format. You also have DivX and Xvid capability.

Is the Chocolate just a shell with good looks and no depth of taste ? In some ways, yes. The internal shared memory is just 1.1 gigabytes. Compare the Nokia X6 with its 32 gigabytes. You can see that you will need the MicroSD card slot that is thankfully included. The battery is a bit small for a screen this large also. It is only 1000 mAh in capacity. This makes this phone last about six hours for talk time. The processor runs fast but the precise speed is not known just yet.

The small amount of internal memory on the LG BL40 Chocolate can be overcome by the ubiquitous amount of connectivity that is available. You have pretty much everything that you need to be connected to EDGE networks, HSDPA, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Email and more. You have a FM radio transmitter to push your music to your car radio. This is really a nice feature and should be on more smartphones. There is GPS and a connection for the Television to show the videos that you have taken with the Chocolate. A 3.5 headphone jack is standard.

Overall, the LG BL40 stands up to the other smartphones very well. It only weighs 129 grams with the battery. It is beautiful and functional and desirable. The curved glass covering the display is a sure head-turner. If you have yet to see one in the flesh you should stop waiting. It is available in Europe and may be available in the United States soon.
