Definitely BlackBerry is at the moment a huge phenomenon that analysts and marketing experts sometimes can’t understand. I personally believe that the effect “BlackBerry” is something that have been produced an amazing popularity, so that everybody would like to have its own BlackBerry.

In this article I would like to make a personal analysis that is going to describe why I think BlackBerry is a sensation and why RIM –the BlackBerry manufacturer—is the great conqueror of the mobile phone market. The reasons behind BlackBerry popularity are not necessarily the opinion of different experts but at least they reflect the opinion of common users like you and me.

Now, let’s see some important ways people realize BlackBerry is currently the most popular Smartphone.

-Good features: One of the most significant things BlackBerry has in the pocket is a wide range of features that make it a very competitive Smartphone. It is good you can read well. I am talking about good and not excellent features. The former BlackBerry versions –Curve, Pearl and others—were developed thinking in business people that require a equipment without gaming features like camera, games, wonderful colors, Bluetooth and toys like that.

Despite of this, BlackBerry started as a very competitive mobile phone selling more units than expected. Even though iPhone –-since it was launched—was a superior than BlackBerry, the RIM creation was blessed with a great acceptance in the market. In my researches, I have found that the reason behind the BlackBerry boom was produced by a combination of different factors that I will describe in the following topics.

-An excellent marketing strategy: A very important aspect in the expansion of RIM and all its products –especially BlackBerry—was the robust marketing strategy they implemented during a long time. I see Research in Motion (RIM) is a powerful Canadian company that is receiving training everyday on how they can be better offering to their customer an excellent service and providing cutting edge technology. The way BlackBerry was marketed was a key element in the way customers started consuming the BlackBerry and the prestige this brand projected since the beginning.

-Innovation: Who don’t know about the famous BBPIN? Everybody knows about it and this is the main way of communication of all BlackBerry users around the globe. We can save money and time through the BlackBerry Messenger and we can even make connection with several people in our city and around the world. BlackBerry has been moving forward and strongly competing with new BlackBerry models and going ahead with amazing releases. Nowadays, BlackBerry can compete with iPhone 3G and even iPhone 4G –that is going to be released very soon— on every aspect –features.

-Good Luck: I think that the more we work the better results we can get but sometimes good luck is our best companion. RIM has been very opportunistic and they have been getting the most out of all the resources of the market and learning from customers’ experience.

The iPhone launched in a blaze of publicity. Apple entering the mobile phone market was big news, and since then their marketing machine has been in full flow. But marketing can only get so far, phones always need to have something big to offer, something that makes people want to have it.

And it seems the latest internet craze, Twitter, is also helping drive forward sales of the iPhone. The quirky ‘mini-blogging site’ offers users the chance to broadcast their ‘tweets (140 characters maximum) to any followers they may have.

Celebrities have been jumping on the Twitter band wagon recently, almost every celebrity, from Ashton Kutcher to Tyra Banks, has a Twitter account they use to keep followers updated – and, as with all things celebrity, fans are loving it.

Which is why the iPhone is cashing in. The iPhone has a massive collection of applications that are able to tap into Twitter. For reading and sending tweets, along with various other options such as creating backgrounds.

Many consider the iPhone’s target market to be fashion conscious and gadget loving twenty somethings. Whilst this isn’t strictly accurate, the iPhone is often used as a business tool, as a gaming utility or what have you, it certainly does have that crowd. Twenty-somethings and gadget lovers tend to be ‘first adopters’ of technology and that has proved the case with Twitter.

So those who love gadgets and Twitter then start looking around for a combination of the two – and the iPhone has provided it.

But it is not just about them, Twitter has started catching on in a big way. Because the celebrities are on board it is getting a wider audience, and more people who might not otherwise be interested in such technologies usually sign up because they want to know what the celebrities are saying. Because they sign up to Twitter, and then get hooked, they want to have a way of accessing it more. And the iPhone provides the perfect platform for that.
