The first Walkman was developed in Japan and released in 1979. Since then, the term Walkman has been used by Sony as a generic term for portable music. Now, the geniuses from Sony Ericsson added a modern touch to the Walkman, by creating their new line of Walkman Phones. By the fourth quarter of 2007, they will release the Sony Ericsson W910i. With this beauty, we can all be sure that Walkmans will never be the same again.

The W910i is a slide phone that comes in heart red or noble black finish. The dimensions are 99.5 x 50 x 12.5 millimeters, and it weighs 86 grams. The LCD screen has 240 x 320 pixels resolution and displays 262,000 colors. The internal memory of the W910i is 40MB, and it supports Memory Stick Micro, which has 1GB of memory. The Lithium Ion battery has a talk time of 9 hours and standby time of over 16 days.

Here is a run through of some basics on the W910i. It has calendar, to-do lists, voice memo, timer, flight mode, notes, alarm, and calculator. The W910i has HSDPA, EDGE, and GPRS as its packet data. Internet surfing and downloading can be done at broadband speeds. You can send Short Message Service (SMS), Multimedia Message Service (MMS), email, and chat with this unit. Predictive text entry helps simplify inputting data. The phone has Bluetooth connectivity and USB support, so you can synchronize your phone with your laptop or desktop PC. You can also personalize your phone with screensavers, animated wallpapers, and ring tones that are mp3 or polyphonic format.

The Sony Ericsson W910i houses a 2.0 mega pixel digital camera with 2.5x zoom. The camera can take photos for picture blogging, as well as video with audio. This mobile phone proudly publicizes its music player ability with the Walkman 3.0. After all, it’s not called a Walkman Phone for nothing. It can play songs in mp3, AAC, AAC+, and m4a format. The music player can organize and categorize songs with the SensMe feature. With SensMe, songs can be classified by style, not just by artist or album. The TrackID feature lets you view the details of each song as it is playing. Also, the W910i has shake control, which lets you pick a song randomly just by flicking your wrist.

For more entertainment, there are also 3D and Java games included and downloadable for the W910i. The shake control also works well with gamers, as moving the phone can be an alternative to pressing the directional keys. You can view the games in portrait or landscape orientation. The W910i has a built-in FM radio. You can also watch streaming video on the large LCD screen.

The price for this unit has not been released yet, but we can expect it to be out in the United States before the Christmas holidays. By 2008, the W910i is expected to be released in Europe, South America, and the Asia-Pacific regions.

Research in Motion (RIM), a Canada-based wireless device company, released their first Blackberry in 1999. They were successful with the model, since it was one of the first to integrate Short Message Service (SMS), Multimedia Message Service (MMS), and email, and other internet applications in one device. Since then, RIM continues to design innovative products to meet the world’s growing need for wireless communication.

In May 2007, RIM proudly introduced one of their latest models, the Blackberry Curve. According to RIM, the Curve is the smallest and lightest full QWERTY keyboard Blackberry to be released by far. It measures 4.20 x 2.36 x 0.61 inches and has a mass of 3.92 ounces. Also known as the Blackberry 8300, this smart phone has a silver and black finish, with soft-grip edges that make it non-slip and comfy to hold. Aside from the fully-functional QWERTY keyboard with spell checker, the Curve is easily navigated with the trackball system. There is also a huge 2.5 inch LCD screen with 65,000 color display and 240 x 320 pixels resolution. The Curve has a light sensor that automatically adjusts the LCD brightness depending on the external lighting conditions.

What else can this sweet thing do? The back of the Curve has a built-in 2.0 mega pixel digital camera with 5x zoom. The camera includes an LED flash and self-portrait mirror. Photos can be shot in three resolutions, even as large as 1600 x 1200 pixels. Sharing of photos can be done by Bluetooth, MMS, email, USB, or microSD card.

For the multimedia-loving crowd, the Blackberry Curve has something in store, too. It supports audio files in a variety of formats, including mp3, WMA, WAV, MIDI, AAC, and others. Videos in mp4, MOV, AVI, and 3GP formats can also be viewed on the Curve’s large screen. You can save these files on the internal 64MB memory, which you can expand with microSD cards sold separately. Audio can be heard over the speakers or on 3.5 mm headsets. The Lithium Ion battery holds for four hours of talk time or two and a half weeks standby time.

Since the Blackberry line is initially designed for the business crowd, the Curve also carries the convenient email and PC sync features busy individuals need. The smart phone is compatible with Microsoft Exchange, IBM Lotus Domino, and Novell Groupwise. The phone has an attachment viewer for Word, Excel, Powerpoint, PDF, and various file types.

Some complaints about the Blackberry Curve, though. It runs on EDGE packet data, not as fast as 3G, so if you’re hardcore on downloading, it may be a little disappointing. Web pages take a little longer to load, so waiting can be inconvenient. But with the connection, email, messaging, and voice calls still work out great. The Curve could use some Wi-Fi or 3G enhancements, and the digital camera has yet to be capable of recording video.

The Blackberry Curve package comes with stereo headsets, wall charger, user manual, and case. Other features of the Curve include voice dialing, voice memo, calendar, alarm, and to-do lists. The unit is currently available in North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region. It’s available for purchase without a service plan.

In the third quarter of 2005, Nextel released the Motorola i850 in the United States market. Since Nextel has been known for their two-way radio features, the i850 is a perfect match for the service provider. Initially selling the unit at $300 with a Nextel plan, it was liked by many busybodies who enjoy the push to talk (PTT) capability on a mobile phone.

The i850 measures 88 x 51 x 28 mm and weighs 120 grams. It’s a clamshell type model with an external extendable antenna. The included Lithium Ion battery can last for 2.75 hours of talk time, or 70 hours of standby time. The Motorola i850 has two LCD screens, the external one in monochrome blue display at 96 x 32 pixels. When flipped open, the inner LCD screen is 176 x 220 pixels and displays over 262,000 colors.

The phone is enabled with Integrated Digital Enhanced Network (iDEN) technology from Motorola. iDEn allows users to enjoy the luxury of mobile phone calls, radio communication, pager and data/fax modem in one handheld device. The side of the unit has a PTT button for two-way radio communication. If there is no network available, i850 owners can use it as a walkie-talkie within a range of up to six miles. There is also a group connect feature, where one can use the walkie-talkie function and talk to 20 people all at the same time.

Messaging is not a hassle with the help of the i850. It is capable of Short Message Service (SMS) and Multimedia Message Service (MMS) format. Text input becomes easier with an included T9 dictionary. The i850 also has a calendar and voice memo.

As your Personal Digital Assistant (PDA), the i850 has great phonebook organizing skills. It has a phonebook capacity of 600 entries, and each entry can have up to 7 contact numbers plus an email address. Each contact can be marked with picture ID, voice tag, and ringer ID. Calls can be made via voice dialing. The phone also has alert modes like polyphonic ring tones and vibrate mode. Custom ring tones can be added, as the i850 supports mp3, WAV, and MIDI format files.

The Motorola i850 has a 0.3 mega pixel camera with 4x zoom than can take photos at 640 x 480 pixel resolution. Photos captured on the camera can be used as wallpapers and screensavers, or attached to MMS messages. The camera has functions for adjusting light and photo quality, as well as a self-timer from 10 to 20 seconds. Files and photos can be sent to a personal computer (PC) with the PC sync feature. The i850 is also USB compatible.

For the fun lover, the Motorola i850 has built in Java games (Zuma, Aces Hold ‘Em, and Blockbreaker) and applications, but more can be downloaded. The phone package comes with stereo headsets so users can listen to songs on the i850. The inside LCD screen is also compatible for web browsing or watching live TV feeds, depending on the subscription.

Have you been searching high and low for a mobile phone that works well with everything you need to do? Well, you don’t need to go very far: Introducing the Motorola i850. This simple phone can multitask for you and much more, you won’t regret having it.

This clamshell type phone was the brainchild of Motorola in the third quarter of 2005. It was a fine addition to the company’s already impressive line-up. The vital statistics of the i850 are 3.46 in x 1.85 in x 1.14 in, and weighs 4.32 ounces. When closed, the unit shows an external monochrome blue LCD display in 96 x 32 pixel resolution. Flip it open, and a 2.2 inch large LCD screen displays 176 x 220 pixels in 262,000 colors.

The Motorola i850 is WAP enabled, so you can browse the web using your mobile phone. It can also support GPS, so your i850 can give you driving directions through the speakerphone. With your laptop or desktop PC, the i850 will fit in perfectly. The i850 can sync up with your PC or be used as a modem, with software sold separately.

You’ll feel even luckier with the communication features of the Motorola i850. It’s capable of Short Message Service (SMS), Multimedia Message Service (MMS), email, and voicemail. Text input is made easier with a T9 dictionary. Phonebook entries can be up to 600, with seven numbers per entry and an email address. Contact details can be tagged with a ring tone ID or picture ID. The i850 also has a push to talk (PTT) button on the side, so users can communicate via two-way radio when cellular network coverage is out.

If you feel like personalizing your Motorola i850, then you can do so with ease. You can choose from a wide variety of polyphonic ring tones, included or downloadable. The phone can support sound files in mp3, MIDI, and WAV formats, so you can listen to your favorite songs with your headsets as well. You can customize your wallpaper and screensaver with photos you take on the 0.3 mega pixel camera, or images saved into your phone. It’s got six ringer profiles which you can personalize, too: Standard, Car, Meeting, Office, Outdoors, and Headset. You can also set the color themes on your i850 whenever you like.

Of course, who wouldn’t want a little fun on their mobile phones? The Motorola i850 not only lets you play music or watch videos on the LCD screen. With the phone, you can also play Java games or download more over the air. Upon purchase, the unit has three games: Zuma, Aces Hold’em, and BlockBreaker.
Nextel introduced this model to their customers at $300 plus subscription. The cellular phone box set includes wall charger, user manual, carry holster and swivel clip. Additional accessories like travel charger, stereo headsets, leather cases, pouch bags, and hands-free kits are sold separately. If you haven’t heard enough, get online and find more about this mobile phone that will make your day.

The Motorola RAZR V3m is one of the newest multimedia phones from Motorola. As originally available in the United States in the first quadrant of 2006, the V3m, along with the other RAZR models, is now sold in Canada, Brazil, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia, and in many Asian countries.

Motorola proudly boasts of this 3G phone, with Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) allowing millions of users to have high speed internet connection all at the same time. The RAZR V3m was named such because of the models’ slim and sharply smart features. The clamshell type and internal antenna make the V3m more compact. The numbers don’t lie, either. The V3m weighs only 3.49 ounces (99 grams) and measures 3.90″ x 2.10″ x 0.57″ (99 x 53 x 14 mm).

The V3m possesses a 1.3-megapixel digital camera, and a 2.2 inch liquid crystal display (LCD) screen with 16-bit color, and 176 x 220 pixels resolution. The camera and screen are ideal for web browsing, video playback, and video calls. The digital camera has night mode and self-timer options, and can record 15 seconds of video. There is also an external display, which has 96 x 80 pixel resolution.

For connectivity options, the V3m has Bluetooth capability and version 1.1 built-in mini-USB, great for transferring photos and files to and from the computer. Bluetooth accessories compatible with the V3m allow hands-free communication, especially when driving and making video calls.

The RAZR V3m has a phonebook capacity of 1,000 entries, and each entry can have up to 6 numbers. The mobile phone also enables voice dialing, picture ID, and ringer ID, for more organized and personalized contacts listing. Regarding messaging abilities, the V3m can support both short message service (SMS) and multimedia message service (MMS), such as picture and video messages.

The phone also has vibrate mode, and ring tones can be polyphonic, with 72 chords applicable. Since the V3m allows for downloading, ring tones and songs in mp3 and WMA format are supported.

Depending on the service provider, the subscriber can access online music stores, TV broadcasts, and streaming video 24 hours a day using the Motorola RAZR V3m. The phone even has navigational power, as it can connect to GPS networks to provide accurate and safe driving directions for everybody.

The RAZR V3m is perhaps everything but the kitchen sink. Motorola keeps making breakthroughs with their phone models. So next time you hear about a new RAZR in town, you’d probably think it’s more than just for shaving.

Earlier in 2007, Samsung proudly released one of its most innovative ideas yet, the Samsung Upstage M620. No other mobile phone model has been designed with a phone on one side, and a music player on the opposite side. It’s often called the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde of mobile phones. The model was originally named as the Samsung Ultra Music F300, but was later on renamed as the Upstage M620, more appropriately because it seems to upstage all other units.

So what else makes this phone stand out? Let’s run the numbers, shall we? The Upstage M620’s bar style body measures 4.07″ x 1.73″ x 0.37″ (103 x 44 x 9 mm) and weighs only 2.57 ounces (73 grams), nearly as much as two candy bars.

The Upstage M620 has two LCD screens, one for the phone side, and one for the music player side. The phone LCD screen is 1.4 inches and has 176 x 65 pixel resolution in 65,000 colors. Caller information and text messages can clearly be seen on it, and whenever you dial, each digit is of a different color. The music player LCD screen is much larger at 2.1 inches, 176 x 220 pixels and 262,000 color display. That makes it great for listing songs, viewing photos and album covers and watching streaming video.

How well does it communicate? The Upstage is capable of Short Message Service (SMS) as well as Multimedia Message Service (MMS), where users can send sound files, photos, and video along with text to anyone in the world. Another bonus, the Upstage is capable of voice dialing, and voice dictation. Depending on the service provider, the Upstage M620 can be made compatible for AOL, Yahoo! Messenger, and ICQ.

With something that slim, you’ll be surprised to know the Upstage has room for a built-in digital camera. The 1.3 mega pixel camera is mounted on the side of the unit, and can take photos in widescreen mode, and can record any length of video, as long as the memory permits. Photos can be used as caller ID pictures, or attached to MMS files. Videos and pictures can easily be shared via Bluetooth, USB, or the memory card.

All this and more great features awaits the adventurous and the curious who want to check out the Samsung Upstage M620. You’ll be amazed at what this schizo of a mobile phone can do.

Mobile phones today are considered as mutants, since they are a combination of dozens of machines in one unit. Samsung Electronics is a genius at conjuring innovative additions to the success of the company. As the competition for the best mobile phones gets tighter, Samsung answers the call by coming up with a phone that can carry tons of features in one. Introducing, the Samsung Upstage M620: a phone that’s said to be unlike any other.

Imagine a phone that can take calls on one face, and once flipped over, it can play music and videos with the best quality. The Upstage can do that and more. Samsung was able to package the ability and power of a desktop PC in a 9mm thin unit, and it only weighs 73 grams.

When organizing phonebook entries, the Upstage does more than save numbers. Up to 500 entries can be stored on the internal memory of 53MB, with up to five numbers per entry. Each caller can be identified with a voice tag or picture ID. The Upstage even has Bluetooth voice ID, where the phone announces over your Bluetooth headset the name of the person calling.

When it comes to messaging, the Upstage is anything but a weakling. With it, you can send Short Message Service (SMS) or Multimedia Message Service (MMS). Text entry can be made faster and easier with an installed T9 dictionary, or if you don’t want to tap on the keypad, use the voice dictation feature. This is great for saving voice memos and to-do lists.

Can the Upstage sync up with your PC? Of course it can. It is USB compatible and has a slot for an SD card. The Upstage phone package comes with a 64MB SD card, and a separate 2GB memory card can be purchased separately. Since the Upstage works just like a PC, you can download songs over the air and transfer them to your PC at home.

Don’t forget the 1.3 mega pixel digital camera. With it, you can make video calls, too. Photos and videos captured with the camera can be attached to emails and MMS. The PictBridge feature allows for easier printing of photos, as the Upstage links your files directly to a printer.
There’s a heck of a lot more to say about the Upstage M620. But our best suggestion is: check it out for yourself. Do you find the Upstage hard to believe? Get yourself the phone, and it will speak for itself.

Helio began as a telecommunications company founded January 2005 in Los Angeles, California. In spring 2007, Helio introduced their newest mobile phone, the first of its kind that is a dual-slider: the Helio Ocean. This new model came as a pleasant surprise for mobile fanatics, and it slowly became a popular alternative to other famous but more expensive brands. This PDA phone packs in an ocean of possibilities for the busybody or the fun lover.

The Ocean measures 4.3 in x 2.2 in x 0.9 in and weighs 5.6 ounces. It has an appropriately large 2.4 in LCD screen at 262,000 colors and 320 x 240 pixels resolution. The oval-shaped body of the Ocean has an integrated antenna and comes in black finish. When held vertically, the Ocean slides up to access the number keypad. When slid horizontally to the right, the Ocean reveals a QWERTY keypad and operates in widescreen mode.

Helio boasts of the Ocean’s seemingly unlimited phonebook capacity. It can carry up to 4,500 entries, each entry can contain six phone numbers, four email addresses, three street addresses, three instant messenger ID’s, company and department name, and even URL’s for homepages. Each entry can be put into a caller group, tagged with a photo ID or with a polyphonic ring tone ID.

The Ocean is an excellent tool for messaging. It supports Short Message Service (SMS), Multimedia Message Service (MMS), email, and Instant Messaging (IM). Helio was smart enough to integrate several email services onto the Ocean: from Yahoo! Mail, AOL Mail, Gmail, MSN Hotmail, Helio Mail, and Earthlink Mail. With just a click on a tab or icon, users can immediately be directed to their desired mail client. For those who are hot on IM, the Ocean also carries functions for Yahoo! Messenger, AOL AIM, and MSN Live Messenger. As messengers are able to synchronize their Ocean’s contact lists with the IM services, they can easily be alerted when a friend is online in any of the IM programs.

For the multimedia lovers out there, the Helio Ocean has good stuff up its sleeve. You can download over the air song files in mp3, WMA, and AAC format in less than one minute. Each song costs $1.99. Playback quality is well-appreciated, both on the loudspeakers and headsets. The Ocean can also play live TV feeds, in clear and smooth quality. TV show clips from MTV, Comedy Central, and Fox Sports can be accessed at an additional fee per month. Photos and video files can be transferred from a laptop or desktop PC using the USB or the SD card.

There is a lot that remains to be said about the cool and ultra useful features of the Helio Ocean. One can only begin to describe the many wonders it can do to improve work and play. The dual-slider technology innovated by Helio really did double the Ocean’s capability, compared to other mobile phones. As it has been said, the Helio Ocean does offer an ocean of possibilities.

If you’re thinking of retiring your old mobile phone, have you narrowed down your choices for a replacement? With the hundreds to thousands of models out there, which style do you think is best for you? You’ve got clamshell types, candy bar models, and even the slide phones. If you think they’re all the same, then here’s a slide phone you surely won’t forget: the Helio Ocean.

It’s not just your ordinary slider. The Helio Ocean is the first and so far the only mobile phone every created that sports the dual-slider feature. The Ocean slides vertically or horizontally to reveal a numeric keypad or a QWERTY keypad, respectively. Each sliding option securely clicks into place, so you won’t have to keep fumbling around for which option to use. You can only use one keypad at a time.

What else makes the Helio Ocean so famous? Since Helio is a rather young mobile network, they wanted to be specific about their target market, which are the young mobile users of the United States. Helio was fortunate enough to have tie-ups with MySpace, so youngsters across the country can log on to their accounts and upload their goodies right from their Helio Oceans.

Not only that, the Helio Ocean is said to have the ultimate inbox. This mobile phone is any messaging fanatic’s dream come true. Not only can the Ocean work with the conventional Short Message Service (SMS) or Multimedia Message Service (MMS), bit it also does email and Instant Messaging (IM). When creating either an SMS or MMS message, the user doesn’t need to specify which of the two he will be sending, as the Ocean determines it right away. If a message contains text only, then the Ocean sends it as SMS. If a picture, sound file, or video is attached, the MMS sending option is immediately activated.

So what about IM? You don’t need to be logged on with your laptop or desktop PC to enjoy the perks of IM. Your Yahoo! Messenger profile doesn’t need to be on “I’m on SMS” mode all the time. The Helio Ocean already comes installed with Yahoo! Messenger, AOL AIM, and MSN Live Messenger. Clicking on the icons from the Ocean will instantly log you on with the quickness of high speed internet. Not only that, if you store your friend’s YM, AIM, or MSN ID’s on your Ocean, your phone will immediately let you know if they’re online, in any of the three IM clients.

Finding your friends has never been simpler than on the Helio Ocean. The Ocean supports GPS and is enabled with Helio’s Buddy Beacon service. Friends within the Helio network can locate their buddies via GPS and view their map positions in real time. Who wouldn’t want to try that nifty idea?

The Helio Ocean is quickly becoming popular for more of its cool and innovative features. Getting this unit is a bargain at $295 with subscription from Helio. You can get your hands on the famous Helio Ocean and at the same time get more for your money with the outstanding functions of the phone.
